Not A Hero

Not A Hero

(This review is based on the ARC provided by the publisher via Net Galley)

I loved this book because it was so amazing that once I started reading it I could not put it down. The book takes you through an emotional roller coaster that touches your heart and leaves you wanting more at the end. This was my first time reading a book by Sarah Robinson and I found this book well written and that I enjoyed her writing style with the dual point of view. I always enjoy books based on marines and seals and this book did not disappoint with its emotional plot and well conceived characters which were easy to connect with. The chemistry between Miles and Zoe was off the charts and the sex scenes was hot and well written. I loved the fact that there was lots of dramas and that both the main characters had their flaws which they were working through before getting together. Zoe and Miles are both characters that I loved especially because of how well they mature and develop throughout the book. I can't wait to read more books by Sarah Robinson because Not A Hero was a masterpiece that every romance lover must read.

Rating: 4/5

Plot

Miles Kydd, is a former marine who has just returned home after leaving the army in order to be there for his sick father. He is having a problem adjusting to civilian life as he has many demons from his time as a soldier.

Upon meeting the chemistry between Miles and Zoe is undeniable and Miles begins to think that Zoe can help him forget all his problems.  Once they get together, things begin to get complicated and Miles realizes that he can't tell his secrets to the one person who he loves.

What You Do To Me

What You Do To Me

(This review is based on the ARC provided by the publisher via Net Galley)

What You Do To Me is a sweet and funny book which leaves you feeling good and with a smile on your face.  This was my first time reading a book by Barbara Longley and I really enjoyed her writing style and her ability to create relatable characters with realistic flaws. I particularly enjoyed the how the main characters Sam and Haley matured and developed throughout the book. I loved Sam's character, because really which girl would not love Sam the handiest handyman in Twin cities, he is gorgeous, caring and sweet. I liked Haley because of her independence and the way she faces situations strongly.  The chemistry between Sam and Hale is combustible and I loved how they tried to fight their attraction in the beginning. This was a great book with little drama and I look foward to reading more books by Barbara Longley.

Rating: 3.5/5

Plot

Sam Haley is known as the handiest handyman in Twin cities because he services   both his clients jobs and his female clients. He is not into relationships or commitment as he has built walls around his heart after he lost both his parents at the age of fifteen.

Feel The Heat (Rockford Fire Department #1)

Feel The Heat

I am a huge fan of Kathryn Shay, so when I saw this book free on Amazon I could not wait to read it and I must say that Kathryn did not disappoint with this book. I loved that she stepped out of the typical male firefighter cliche and made this book about a female firefighter and she highlighted the problems firefighters families face with the dangers of their job. This was the first firefighter related book that I have read that was so well researched and accurate when it came to the finer details of the occupation, hats off to Kathryn for achieving that. I loved Alex's character especially when he went all alpha male and got jealous and possessive. There were times in the book when I didn't enjoy Francesca's character as she seemed selfish and self centred, especially when she let Alex down or wasn't there when he needed her. I also didn't enjoy that such a large portion of the book was based on Francesca's parents as I would have loved to see more focus on Alex and Francesca. The writing style of the book was good and I loved the chemistry between Alex and Francesca. Kathryn is a talented writer which I love and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Rating: 3/5

Plot

Francesca Cordaro, is a brave firefighter whom loves her job. One day while on the job, she saves the life of rich businessman Alex Templeton and whilst doing so she gets injured.

Alex sees the sexy firefighter who saved his life and he is immediately attracted to her. Francesca is attracted to Alex, but refuses to go out with him because he belongs to a different world. Alex is unable to accept Francesca's refusal and he tries to persuade her with gifts. After meeting Alex again, Francesca decides for them to become friends as she knows that Alex has very little friends and is lonely.

During their friendship, Alex and Francesca are unable to deny their attraction and eventually decide to give a relationship a try. Will Alex be able to handle the dangers of Francesca's job or will their relationship fail like her parents?

One Night with a Stranger (Unforgettable Nights #1)

One Night with a Stranger

This is the first book in the Unforgettable Nights series and I loved it so much that I could not put the book down.  It was my first time reading a book by Linda Steinberg and I must say her writing is flawless and she makes the reader connect with her characters which many authors don't manage to accomplish. I enjoyed the chemistry between Matt and Lisa as well as how mature the characters were and the realistic drama.  Matt's character was someone whom I loved because he balanced his dreams and responsibilities and never gave up on his ambitions.  There is only one thing in the book that I disliked and that was the ending because I felt like it was rushed and ended abruptly.  I wished the book was longer so I could continue reading and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Rating: 4/5

Plot

Wild Irish Heart (Mystic Cove #1)

Wild Irish Heart

Wild Irish Heart was the first book that I have read by Tricia O' Malley and I have to say I enjoyed this sweet romance with a touch of magic. I loved the whole irish set up entwined with celtic magic as this is what gave the book an edge over normal contemporary romances.  I am a sucker for alpha males that is why I enjoyed Flynn and his possessiveness, whereas at times I felt Keelin annoying as she was very confused. The secondary characters were well developed and I really enjoyed Fiona and her genuine relationship with her granddaughter. The writing style was okay, but I wished that this book had a dual point of view style as it would have given Flynn's character the depth that was needed. The chemistry between Flynn and Keelin was combustible and I loved it. I look forward to reading the rest of the Mystic Cove series.

Rating: 3.5/5

Plot

Keelin O' Brian always knew that there was something different about her and when she recieves an ancient book from her grandmother in Ireland, Keelin decides to finally investigate the Mystic Cove and it's hidden secrets.

Long Way Home (Mangrove Island #1)

Long Way Home

This is the first book in the Mangrove Island series by Neve Cotterell. I personally felt that the beginning of the book was so slow and boring that I almost stop reading it, but as the story progressed I felt the story getting better and more interesting. This is a second chance romance that I ended up enjoying because of brilliant develop of the lead characters Alexis and Tyler.  Initially I didn't like Alexis character as I felt she was a conceited know it all, who treated her family very badly, but the book revealed more about her past and upbringing, the reader begins to understand Alexis's behaviour. Tyler was a sweet, romantic character which I loved.  I didn't like the writing style because the author kept on switching to different point of views in the same chapter. The chemistry and romance between Tyler and Alexis was well written. I look forward to reading the rest of the Mangrove Island series.

Rating: 3/5

Plot

Alexis has returned to Mangrove Island,  the place she hated the most, after seventeen years. She has returned as a successful lawyer, whom now has plenty of pain and secrets.

Tyler, a bartender/ musician, has been in love with Alexis since he was sixteen, but Alexis never seemed to notice him. Now that Alexis is back, Tyler has decided not to let his chance with his dream girl go. Tyler and Alexis begin to spend time together, which makes Tyler realizes that he has to mend Alexis's broken heart before he can stand a chance with her.

Let Me Be The One ( Let Me #1)

Let Me Be The One

I loved this book because it has everything a reader could want: love, friendship, jealousy, family and drama.  Lily Foster has done a brilliant job with her flawless writing and well developed characters. I enjoyed the dual point of view narration because it gave the story the depth it needed to help the reader connect with the characters.  The story appealed to me because I enjoyed the way Tom and Darcy didn't just jump into a relationship, they took their time to get to know each other before forming a physical relationship.  The secondary characters of Tom and Darcy's friends and family were well conceived and helped the book by giving it more dimensions.  Generally in college romances you find that the characters are very immature, but I loved that Lily made her characters mature and sensible. The only bad thing in the book was that I personally felt that towards the middle of the book the story had began to drag. I loved this book and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Rating : 4/5

Plot

Darcy Donovan, after escaping abroad for a year to get away from her ex boyfriend, is back at college to face her ex and to change the insecure girl she had become.

Tom Farrel, has been attracted to Darcy for a long time, but has been waiting on the sidelines while his friend Nick screws up his relationship with Darcy. The Millionaires Proposal ( Destined for Love #1)

The Millionaires Proposal

This a sweet and short romance novella by Janelle Denison, however this book was previously released as the Baby's Surprise and has now been improved and re-released.  The book is a second chance romance which pulls you in with the great writing which brings the characters to life. I loved the alpha male character Ford, who even with his tough upbringing makes a successful man of himself. Janelle makes you feel the pain that Ford goes through especially his struggle with his past and his fight for acceptance in a town that always considered him an outsider. Grace's character also brings out tears especially when she is craving her father's approval. I enjoyed the chemistry between Grace and Ford, however some parts of the story felt very old fashioned. The greatest downfall of the book is that the story is not unique and is very predictable.

Rating: 3/5

Plot

Grace Holbrook, a florist, runs into one of the most gorgeous men she has ever seen, but little does she know that the gorgeous hunk is her first love and the boy who broke her heart eleven years ago.  After realizing the hot man is the man she never stopped loving, they spend a passionate night together. Sidelined (A Montgomery University Novel #2)

Sidelined

(This review is based on the ARC provided by the publisher via Net Galley )

This is the second book in the Montgomery University series by Kathryn Renard. I enjoyed this book more than the first book The Backup.  I love sport romances and this book touched on the injury facet of sport which is what made this book stand out from others of its kind. The writing style in this book was good and I really enjoyed the secondary characters of both Mark and Montana's families in the book as well as Montana's roommate Rachel and Janelle because they were all well conceived. I did feel that Mark and Montana's characters were very immature in the way they dealt with difficult situations.  Personally I also didn't like the way Montana rushed into losing her v-card and their intimate scenes could have been more romantic. A good book overall, but nothing I would read again.

Rating: 3/5

Plot

Montana Tienary ends up at Montgomery University after her dad is employed as the head coach of the university football team. On one her first few days at Montgomery she gets attracted to one of her fathers star players, Mark Bishop.

Mark Bishop is a gorgeous player who pushes all Montana's buttons everytime they meet. After getting hot and heavy one night, Mark makes it clear to Montana that he has no time for inexperienced girlfriends after which he humilates her. Once Mark and Motana start getting along and falling for each other, a dangerous injury on the football field might tear them apart.

The Backup ( A Montgomery University Novel #1)

The Backup

(This review is based on the ARC provided by the publisher via Net Galley )

I first have to confess that I read the books in this series in the wrong order as I had completed the fourth book The Comeback before I read The Backup which is the first book in the series. After reading this book I realised that what I considered a mistake was actually a blessing because I didn't enjoy this book at all and as a result I would have not read the other book in the series which I really loved.

When I first started reading it the book I was enjoying it but as the story progressed I began to dislike the characters. I felt that Josie was too self centred and I hated the way that she played Mark and Runner against each other. I also didn't like Runner's character because even though he was in a relationship he was pining after Josies and at the first sign of trouble in Josies and his relationship he went and cheated. It was very annoying to see how both Runner and Josies never took responsibility for their mistakes and always blamed it on circumstances or their poor upbringing. The writing style was good and I liked the football theme to the book. Overall it was an okay book and will be reading the rest of the series because I loved The Comeback.

Rating: 2.5/5

Plot

Josie Savage is the the daughter of a star footballer and in order to get away from her fathers limelight and fame she decides to go  far away to college at Montgomery University.  Once at Montgomery she meets Runner Rarity, who is a one of the quarter backs on the university football team.

Runner comes from a poor background and the first time he sees Josie he likes her even though he is still in a relationship with his school sweetheart Tamara. Josie didn't want to date a quarter back due to her experience with her father, but she begins to get attracted towards Runner. Between Josies daddy issues and Runner's crazy ex girlfriend they face many problems in their relationship. Will their relationship be able to make it through the many obstacles ?
