Claiming Her Seal (Assignment: Caribbean Nights #1)

Claiming Her Seal

This is the first installment in the Caribbean Night series as well as the first book that have read by Kat Cantrell. I am generally a huge fan of books based on Navy Seals because I love their alpha male and protective behaviour, but this book kind of disappointed me because I did not fall in love with Dex's character. I found that Dex was always so wrapped in his insecurities and he was always craving for someone to give his problems and feeling attention, which really was annoying at times especially when he painted himself as the devil. Emma's character was strong and independent and I enjoyed her standing up to Dex as well as to her fears, but she also became irritating with the back and forth with Dex because she was unable to make up her mind. The chemistry between Dex and Emma was good, but did not leave you wanting more. For a first time reader of Kat Cantrell, I found her dual point of view style of writing enjoyable, however the book did have a very slow and dragging feel to it. Overall this was an okay read which held nothing special or captivating, therefore making this book a time pass read.

Rating: 3/5

Dex Riley is an ex Navy Seal, who hides the darkness of his past in his soul. He is now content running an island adventure company, in the Caribbean, with a few of his fellow Navy Seal friends, that is until Emma, a resort guest, targets him for vacation fling.

Magic Kiss (Hope Falls #11)

Magic Kiss

This is the second book I read by Melanie Shawn in the Hope Falls series and I really enjoyed this sweet romance which leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I loved Logan's character because of his alpha male qualities and the way he respected his friendship and tried to look after his friends family, however I would have liked to see more of Logan's PTSD and how he dealt with it.  Emma's character was sweet and innocent and I loved how she was an example of an everyday woman with normal problems. I really enjoyed the fact that Emma was a writer and I loved the scenes where she is writing her book because I manged to get engrossed her novel's characters and I wish that Melanie would bring that series to life. The dual point of view writing style was good, but I did feel that there was not enough drama in the book so for me it began to drag towards the end. The chemistry between Logan and Emma was hot and definitely help pull the reader into the story. I did not like the fact that Drew was acting to mature for his age especially when it came to women and his parents love life. Over all this was a great small town romance which highlights a second chance at love.

Rating: 3.5/5

Plot

Logan Dorsey left his job at the military and as an undercover cop when he lost his best friend. He cannot seem to get rid of his nightmares and the only person who can help him is untouchable.

Emma Locke, is a romance writer who lost her husband six years ago and now she is unable to find the inspiration to keep on writing her famous romance series. The only man who can inspire that passion in her again is off limits.

It is said that time heals all wounds, but will it be enough to help grow new love?

Wednesday

Wednesday

I am generally a fan of dark romances, but this book completely disappointed me because it lacked a story and character depth. This was my first time reading a book by Kendall Ryan and she did not manage to leave a good impression because even though I liked the dual point of view narration the story felt like it was just an after thought and was not written for the sake of it. I completely hated the way Shaw treated Chloe because she was his best friend and he was treating her like some cheap prostitute who he could not care less about. Chloe was also such a push over because she let Shaw treat her like dirt and just accepted it for the sake of sex and love. The sex scenes were good but definitely lacked emotions. e never really got to know the characters properly and it seemed like Kendall Ryan wrote the book in the middle of her sleep. The book definitely felt incomplete because it was over before you even really tried to get into this poorly written story. A definite waste of my reading time and I dont think I will be reading any more of Kendall Ryan books.

Rating: 1.5/5

Plot

Shaw and Chloe have been best friends since they were children, but when Shaw's wife dies he is filled with heartache and regrets so every Wednesday he goes to Chloe for sex. Chloe has always been in love with Shaw and even though she desires him she wishes things were different and that he had more to offer her than sex.

As time goes on Chloe is unsure if she can carry on just sleeping with Shaw because she has given him her heart and soul. Expressing her feelings may drive him away, but it si a risk she is willing to take.

Vegas Love (Love Series #1)

Vegas Love

This was my first time reading a book by Jillian Dodd and I was drawn right in with her brilliant writing and funny moments. The writing style was great and I loved the dual point of view style and her likable characters. Cash is definitely a candidate for book boyfriend because he was sweet and romantic, but at the same time possessed some of the alpha male qualities that I loved. Ashlyn was innocent and nave to the point where it got annoying and I did not like the fact that she resorted to getting high when at work especially when she has been a victim of drug abuse. The chemistry between Cash and Ashlyn was hot, but I did feel that the insta love was a bit far fetched. The booked kept me intrigued for the first half and I loved the humor that came along with the characters, but I did wish there was a bit more drama as the book began to drag towards the end. Overall this is a great book which will definitely leave a smile on your face and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series with Cash's brothers.

Rating: 4/5

Plot

Ashlyn Roberts is a famous Hollywood star who has just had the worst week in her life because her ex boyfriend released a sex tape of her and her current boyfriend just broke up with her at her best friends wedding. She resorts to alcohol to drown her sorrows when she meets a sexy stranger with whom she leaves the wedding with and ends up getting married to in Vegas.

Cash Crawford, is a lawyer who was just offered his dream job working with his brother as a talent agent. His first task is to keep Ashlyn Roberts out of trouble and under no circumstances is he to sleep with her, which is definitely difficult considering they definitely consummated their marriage on their wedding night.

Will their one night stand end in a quickie demand as promised or will they get a chance at true love?

Breakaway (Heller Brothers #1)

Breakaway

I am a huge fan of sports romance and this book did not disappoint me as it was both fun and romantic. This was my first time reading a book by Kelly Jamieson and I enjoyed her dual point of view writing style as well as her her well written characters. I loved Jase's character because he was able to get over his weaknesses and insecurities and make something of himself and he did not flash his money or bask in his popularity.  Remi's character was a bit annoying at times because she never though about herself and was always babying her siblings even though it was time for them to grow up. She also was very insecure when it came to Jase and was always doubting his reasons for being with her. The chemistry between Jase and Remi was scorching hot and was well conceived as their relationship was about more than just the physical aspect. I really enjoyed the book, but I felt that it lacked drama and that it was rushed at the end as I would have liked to see more about how they coped with their new situation. Overall this was a great sports romance and I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Rating: 4/5

Plot

Jase and Remi are both looking for a scorching not strings attached affair. Jase had recently broke up with his long time girlfriend because he did not want to commit and Remi, who is a school teacher, just saw the last of her younger siblings leave the nest. Trophy Husband (Caught Up in Love #3)

Trophy Husband

I am generally a huge fan of Lauren Blakely and I have really enjoyed the Caught Up in Love  series thus far, but I was really disappointed with this book as a third installment to the series. This book lacks Lauren's powerful characters as well as her flawless writing style because I felt that most of this book was spent in McKenna's imaginary scenarios and less in the actual story. I also did not like the fact that this book was written in a single point if view writing style as it results in Chris's character lacking depth and us barely getting to know him well enough other than the fact that he is 29 years old and he is a gamer. McKenna's character was annoying due to her imagination as well as her being unable to move on with her life after her fiance left her and her having to prove a point of equality. The chemistry between McKenna and Chris was good, but not as scorching as we are used to in Lauren's books. Overall this was a an average read which did not live up to the brilliant series by a great author.

Rating: 2.5/5

Plot

McKenna Bell is a successful fashion blogger who is still recovering from her fiance leaving her a day before their wedding for another woman he met at his bachelors party. After running into her cheating ex and his new wife McKenna decides that is wrong that only men are allowed to get trophy wives, therefore she starts up an internet reality competition for a trophy husband.

After the competition is announced that is when Chris comes into the picture and he has everything that McKenna wants as he is handsome, successful and has amazing chemistry with her. McKenna will now have to come face to face with what she really wants in life which is either protecting her heart or letting go of the pain for a new beginning.

Playing for Keeps (Neighbor from Hell #1)

Playing for Keeps

When I downloaded this book I was not sure if I had read this book before because it sounded familiar, but once I started reading the book and I had realized that I read  the book a couple years ago, but I still could not put the book down as it was so funny. R.L Mathewson delivers a brilliant read with flawless writing and humorous characters which keep you interested and addicted to the book right till the end. I loved Jason's character even though he was immature and irritating at times because he had managed to bring Haley out of her shell and he was hilarious throughout the book especially with his obsession with food. Haley's character development was brilliant as she went fro a shy pushover to someone who was willing to stand up for herself and I loved the pranks she used to play on Jason as it kept you laughing. The chemistry between Jason and Haley was hot and I enjoyed that their relationship was more than just a physical attraction. The drama and back and forth at the end of the book did get annoying, but it did not take away completely from this awesome book. Overall this was a fun, light and sexy contemporary romance novel that will definitely leave you with a smile on your face.

Rating: 4/5

Plot

Haley has decided that she is done being a shy pushover when her annoying neighbor pulls the last straw by trying to destroy her garden. Little did Haley know that with her new attitude she will end up getting sucked into his world, but Haley has a game plan as she knows that her annoying but gorgeous neighbor has the power to break her heart.

The last thing that Jason expected was for hos shy neighbor to go all crazy on him over ruing her flowers. Big Shot (Book Boyfriend #1)

Big Shot

As you all know I am a huge fan of Carly Phillips and her magnificent writing skills and when she combines with the powerhouse of Erika Wilde, they always manage to turn out a great book.  This was my second time reading a book by this duo and I found once again that their writing was flawless and their character development was much better than Dirty Sexy Saint. I loved Wes's character has he was the dominant alpha male who definitely earned the title of book boyfriend because he was both sexy and caring. I enjoyed that Natalie was an independent sassy woman who was trying to prove her worth to Wes in the business world after he had refused to give her a job. The chemistry between Wes and Natalie was combustible as expected when you read a book by Carly Phillips. I did feel the story was a bit short and I would have loved to see more than two weeks of their relationship. Overall this was a short, fun and sexy romance that will definitely leave you wanting more.

Rating: 4/5

Plot

Wes Sincalir is a bad boy and a notorious heart breaker whom no woman seems to be able to resist. That is except his business adversary and best friends little sister Natalie Prescott who seems to be unaffected with his charm and flirting. Even though Natalie has become a part of his dirty fantasies, she wants nothing to do with him. After losing a bet, Natalie is then forced to face her attraction to Wes and their combustible chemistry leads to them having a two week fling. Will Natalie be able to keep her heart out of sex with the man who she has always loved?
