Almost a Bride (Wyoming Wildflowers #1)

Almost a Bride

A sweet marriage of convenience romance based in the town of Wyoming. I really enjoyed this book because a fan of books based on marriages of convenience and I really liked that these characters had a history together. This was my first time reading a book by Patricia McLinn and I enjoyed her writing style because she put a lot of focus on her characters and their growth as people as well as the dual point of view allowed us to understand both the characters better. I loved Daves's character and his possessive alpha male ways especially the fact that he was sweet and willing to do anything to protect Matty from trouble. Matty's character was sometimes annoying because she was too impulsive and never considered anyone's feelings when she wanted to get to her goal. She was always picking on Dave for always knowing what his dreams and ambitions were which I felt was totally wrong, but I did like that she was strong and independent and able to stand up for herself when she was unhappy. The chemistry between Dave and Matty was hot and I especially liked the scenes where they would get caught. Overall this was a short, sweet and light read and I would definitely want to read the rest of the series.

Rating: 3.5/5

Plot

Matty Brennan always loved Dave Currick and always pictured marrying him, until he had broken her heart six years ago. Now after so many years Matty has returned to Wyoming and in order to save her families ranch she has to ask Dave to marry her.

Texas Secrets (The Gallaghers of Morning Star #1)

Texas Secrets

This was my first time reading a book by Jean Brashear and I absolutely enjoyed this book especially after the last few awful books I read. This is a Texan novel based in the small town of Morning Star, where life is slow paced and about ranches and family life. I really enjoyed Jeans style of writing especially the fact that she enabled the reader to emotionally connect with the characters through the dual point of view narrative style. Boone's character was the typical Texas cowboy who loves his ranch and his town, but there was also a selfless lover in him which I really enjoyed because he was willing to give up his happiness for the one he loves. Maddie's character was sweet and tender, but at the same time I love that she stood up for herself and never let Boone walk all over her. The chemistry between Boone and Maddie was good and I enjoyed watching them fight their attraction. I would have personally liked the book to be a bit longer and would have enjoyed more depth in the characters as well as a little drama,, but overall this was a great book and I will be looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Rating: 4/5

Billionaire Impossible: An Alpha Billionaire Romance Series (Book 1)

Billionaire Impossible

Let me start with saying this is by far the worst book I have ever read, it is not even worth trying to read. I absolutely hated the writing style of this book it felt like the narrative was always in third person and this hindered my ability to connect with the characters or the story.  I completely did not understand the plot line or the fact that the authors jumps between so many characters points of view that it makes it so confusing that you begin to lose interest in the book. The characters lacked depth had were not well written at all, lets start with Julia who was a spineless cheater who could not get out of a toxic relationship in which she was getting raped almost everyday.  Darius who is supposed to be an alpha billionaire never seemed to care about what was going around him or even what was happening in his business, he was always saying he is the boss and can do whatever he feels like. The characters of Bob and Anderson were just creepy and they seemed to get away with all the stalking they were doing. Thomas, I felt was a rapist because he always forced himself on Julia even when she said no and even he ended up getting away with that kind of despicable behavior.  There was no chemistry between any of the characters, it felt like the author did not pay much attention when writing the book and even though this book ended on a cliffhanger I am not even mildly tempted to read the rest of the series.

Rating: 1/5

Find Her Keep Her: A Martha's Vineyard Love Story (Love in the USA #1)

Find Her Keep Her: A Martha's Vineyard Love Story

This was one of the most crazy and ridiculous story I have ever read because of the awful characters and lack of chemistry. It is my second time reading a book by Z.L Arkadie and I had had high expectations because I enjoyed other books of hers, but this book ended up disappointing me because of the poor choice of words used during the intimate scenes. The book felt very rushed at many times and this did not allow for well written character development and plot line. I generally love a possessive alpha male, but in this book Jack's behavior just annoyed me because he seemed so pushy especially for meeting someone for the first time and he often did not give Daisy a chance to think things through he would just try to rail road her with sex. Jack's character felt very immature especially with his constant wanting to have sex, he was never able to form the emotional connection with Daisy which I felt was really needed in this book. Daisy's character I felt was weak and did not have a back bone because she was unable to get out of a relationship she was not happy in and she seemed to just fall into bed with someone she just met without even thinking much about it, but I did enjoy her back story and when the explained the reason for insecurities. The intimate scenes between Jack and Daisy were short and Jack never could control himself which did not make for a good read especially with the poor choice of words used. I felt the chemistry and emotions between Jack and Daisy was non existent and I think this was partially because we only got see Jack's point of view towards the end of the book. I did love the magical location of Martha's Vineyard because it made you want to go on vacation in this wonderful town. Overall this was a story which had potential, but due to poor execution ended up disappointing the reader.

Rating: 2.5/5

Arm Candy (Hot City Nights #3)

Arm Candy

This was a sizzling standalone romance from the Hot City Nights series by Patricia Ryan. It was my first time reading a novel by Patricia and I found that I enjoyed this page turner at times because of her dual point of view writing style and all the drama and emotion included in the book. I did not get Nora's character at times because she was able to so easily to agree to get used even if it was in return of the favors her cousin did for her and she was also able to keep on lying when the opportunity presented itself so many times to tell David the truth. Then there was David's character who was so full of himself that he behaved as a pompous ass most of the time and even the fact that he almost raped Nora because he read her objection in the wrong way. I also did not understand how he was so rich if he did not take commission from his fundraising and he also blew his inheritance. The chemistry between Nora and David was scorching hot and very well written as was my favorite part of the book. The beginning of the book was slow because I felt that Patrica was over describing the surroundings and not getting to the point, but as the book went on it got better and at times I was unable to put the book down. I also would have liked to see more of David and Nora's relationship while they were getting to know each other better. I enjoyed this book and I would love to read the story of Alec and Patsy because of the glimpse I caught of them in this book.

Rating: 3/5
