I enjoyed this sweet romance which had a bit of danger, family, small towns and PTSD. It was my first time reading a book by Wendy Vella and I found her writing average and at times boring even though she had a good story line. I liked Jake and Branna's characters, but I felt they weren't well developed. However, I loved the secondary characters of Buster, Ethan and Branna's father  as they were well conceived and added more depth and lightness to the book. The chemistry between Jake and Branna was good, but Wendy had rushed their intimate scenes and it felt sometimes like their sex scenes were pointless.  The climax of the book felt very rushed and not well written as well as there was too many loose ends in the book especially with the book club ladies. I enjoyed the story, but poor execution and writing prevented the book from being brilliant.

Plot

Branna O' Donned returns to Lake Howling, after many years, when she inherits her friends house. She decides that this will be her fresh start, where she can maybe put her demons to rest. However, with a small town comes many complications including Jake McBride. 

Jake was one of the golden boys of the small town, but after returning from Iraq he had given up his passion which was practicing medicine.  As soon as Jake and Branna meet, sparks begin to fly. Both of them are fighting their own demons and don't know how to make a relationship work, but at the same time they are finding it difficult to walk away from each other.

I am a huge fan of Melissa Foster and her alpha male hero's and according to me this one her best books by far.  The writing in this book is flawless and so captivating from the first chapter that it is difficult to put this book down. I loved Heath's character because he is so sweet, but at the same time he was dominant in bed. I think Heath is now my new book boyfriend because of his hotness and dreaminess. The growth of both Ally and Heath's characters were well conceived and written. The secondary characters were a good touch to the book and I really enjoyed them. My favourite part of the book was the off the charts chemistry and the scorching hot sex scenes between Ally and Heath, because the aim of this series was for Melissa to bring in hotter hero's and I think she has hit the nail on the head with these alpha male hero's. However, I did wish that there was a little more drama in the book, but nevertheless this was a brilliant book.

This book had a lot of promise as it started of well, but towards the end it just got annoying and was rushed.  Firstly I wish I saw more of the male protagonist Hank in the book because it felt that he was missing from most of the story which made it very difficult to connect with the plot and characters. Paisley's character was so annoying (and as Hank described her "wishy-washey") because she never knew what she wanted and continued to string guys along. She was unable to stand up for herself and for her dignity even though that is what she promised herself.  The writing was good and the chemistry was okay, but I would have liked to see more of the intimate scenes. I loved the secondary characters of Paisley's friends because they brought humour to the book which left the reader laughing out loud. I was really disappointed with this book.

Plot

Paisley, is recently divorced and trying to enjoy her life and one morning she gets up next to her best friends handsome brother Hank. Leaving it as a one night stand seems the best thing to do, but they are unable to resist each other.

Hank is a naval officer who believes both in commitment and monogamy, which is something Paisley does not want at the moment. Hank then offers Paisley a no strings arrangement and it seems to be good to be true. 

As they spend time together both Hank and Paisley find it difficult to leave their heart and feelings out of their agreement.

A Cowboy to Remember

I am always fans of the books by Tule Publishing, that are set in the town of Marietta with the beautiful background of Copper Mountain and this book did not disappoint at all. It had all the fun elements that are present in this small magical town and I loved seeing the characters from the different books I had read which were based in this beautiful town. I loved Olivia's character because she was independent and strong enough to recognize her shortcomings and change them. She also didn't behave like a damsel in distress who needed rescuing, but she rather wanted to rescue herself. Jake's character was also very well written especially with his determination to be with Olivia. I enjoyed the writing style even though it was my first time reading a book by Barbara Ankrum, but I did notice some spelling errors which was unacceptable for a book that was republished. The chemistry between Olivia and Jake was steaming hot and well written.  I really enjoyed this second chance romance and am looking forward to the rest of the series.

This was a hot and steamy romance of the typical rich good girl falling for the bad boy. It was my first time reading a book by Christina Phillips and I loved her writing style and her characters.  The chemistry and sex scenes was scorching hot and well written and at times left me wanting for more. I loved Jackson's character because I have a soft spot for gorgeous alpha males who work hard. I felt Scarlet's character very annoying at times because in this day and age, she was behaving like a damsel in distress who could not stand up for herself. I also didn't enjoy that Christina glossed over the first three weeks of Jackson and Scarlet's relationship because I would have loved to see more on the beginning of their relationship. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This is the first book in The Escort Collection  and after a very long time I got to read a book where the escort was female. The book was sweet and funny, but at times I felt it too long.  It was my first time reading a book by Leigh James and I found that I loved the dual point of view style of writing because the reader understood at all times what was going through the characters mind.  The characters were well developed, but at times I did find Audrey annoying especially when she was always putting herself down. I found the chemistry and sex scenes average because there was nothing special or hot about them. There were also many funny scenes and hilarious one liners from both James and Audrey when they are discussing James's family, which gave the book a lightness which I loved. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
